UNITA is an alliance of six comprehensive research universities from five countries with different sizes and trajectories gathering together more than 160 000 students and 13 000 staff members. From west to east: Universidade de Beira Interior, Universidad de Zaragoza, Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, Université Savoie Mont Blanc, Università di Torino, and Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara.
I am currently working on developing Research and Innovation within UNITA through the implementation of thematic hubs including one around Cultural Heritage.
In order to contribute to the sustainable development of their territories, UNITA research and innovation will focus during the first phase of the project on three main thematic areas: Cultural Heritage, Renewable Energy, Circular Economy. Through these three main areas, UNITA can contribute to the development of rural and mountain areas through promoting the value of the natural resources, developing circular economy networks (including bio-economy), linking different economic activities (agriculture, tourism, industry and crafts), promoting the richness of the cultural and linguistic heritage, and optimizing the relationships between the different actors of each ecosystem. UNITA proposes an action plan based on the launching in each of the three thematic areas of a Research and Innovation Hub as the main tool in order to formalize research and innovation projects around the three thematic areas in connection with the local ecosystem, embody the research results in the teaching at all learning levels, and revitalise the rural and mountain areas through life-long learning and entrepreneurship.
